Agape Foundation founded in 1969 is a nonprofit tax-exempt foundation that raises and distributes funds to groups working for nonviolent social change. Agape provides seed grants, loans and fiscal sponsorship to organizations addressing the following six areas: Peace, Human Rights, Environmental Protection, Economic Justice, Progressive Arts & Media and Grassroots Organizing Support. Mission Statement: The Agape Foundation expresses its commitment to a just and peaceful world by funding the nonviolent social change organizations that will create that world. Value Statement: We are committed to true human security through equitably redistributing resources, and challenging all forms of oppression. Our decisions and discussions are rooted in histories of nonviolent resistance. We promote community-based efforts towards creating systemic change for social justice. We value transparent decision-making processes as an aspect of nonviolence. We are participatory and consensus based. We value and foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture. We believe that those communities that we fund and fiscally sponsor should be represented in the foundation.
