The Marine Science Internship
Our intrepid Marine Science Interns boldly go where no intern has gone before! This trailer is just a taste of what they got up to over the summer of 2011 -- subscribe to our channel to be the first to see the full movies in Spring 2012. The Marine Science Internship (MSI) is a three-week program offered by the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, aimed at giving aspiring young oceanographers (aged 16+) hands-on experience of working in the scientific community. The course offers SCUBA certification up to PADI Rescue Diver in addition to AAUS Scientific Diver training, with a particular emphasis on underwater data collection and survey techniques. The Marine Science Interns also study essential statistical analysis procedures, laboratory protocols and have the opportunity to work closely with resident faculty and visiting experts. Module one of the BIOS Explorer 2010 series "Bermuda Footprint: Making Sense of Sustainability". The BioNauts investigate the potential for using renewable energy sources in Bermuda, including solar power to cook food, boil water and generate electricity, as well as turning our waste oil into biodiesel.
