Finding relief: Veteran David George and his mother Julia (Part 7)
www.davidlynchfoundation.org When David George returned home after serving in the Iraq war he was different, distant. His mother Julia feared for his life as he spiraled out of control, drinking heavily. David learned the Transcendental Meditation technique to help him overcome his post-traumatic stress: "I experienced this relief from the constant anxiety attack my life had become. TM is all in the individual, it comes back to the core of who you are as a person and what you're made of. You have to give yourself a chance to try to make yourself better." Here is David and Julia George's story, as told at the 3rd Annual Change Begins Within Gala on December 3rd, 2011. The David Lynch Foundation brings stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation to at-risk, high-stress populations such as veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, kids in inner-city schools, the homeless, and Native Americans. Transcendental Meditation is the most thoroughly researched and widely practiced meditation technique. For more information on the David Lynch Foundation, please visit www.davidlynchfoundation.org For more information on Operation Warrior Wellness, please visit www.operationwarriorwellness.org For more information on the Transcendental Meditation technique or to contact your local TM teacher please visit tm.org
