A Native American Leadership Journey
"Leader" is typically defined as an individual who exercises power, but leadership looks different to Native Americans who prefer collective change that depends on the dynamic interrelationships between many individuals. The Hopi Leadership Program is built on cultural values and responsibilities embedded in relationships. During a Nov. 2009 visit, participants in the Circle of Leaders Program sponsored by Native Americans in Philanthropy learn about the Hopi way of creating positive community change.

The Scholarship Program at ASF was started in 1984, and since 1986 has been made possible by the restricted Endowment Fund for Financial Aid. Interest from the Fund, currently valued at more than $60000000 pesos, provides scholarships to more than 300 students at The American School. Tax Exempt Foundations - G. Edward Griffin interviews Norman Dodd
Norman Dodd (1899 - 1987) was a banker/bank manager, worked as a financial advisor and served as chief investigator in 1953 for US Congressman B. Carroll Reece Special Committee on Tax Exempt Foundations (commonly referred to as the Reece Committee). He was primarily known for his controversial investigation into tax-exempt foundations The Select Committee to Investigate Tax-Exempt Foundations and Comparable Organizations was an investigative committee of the United States House of Representatives between 1952 and 1954. The committee was originally created by House Resolution 561 during the 82nd Congress. The committee investigated the use of funds by tax-exempt organizations (non-profit organizations) to see if they were being used to support communism. The committee was alternatively known as the Cox Committee and the Reece Committee after its two chairmen, Edward E. Cox and B. Carroll Reece. Dodd stated that the grants given by the Foundations had been used for: "Directing education in the United States toward an international view-point and discrediting the traditions to which, it [formerly) had been dedicated. Training individuals and servicing agencies to render advice to the Executive branch of the Federal Government. Decreasing the dependency of education upon the resources of the local community and freeing it from many of the natural safeguards inherent in this American tradition . Changing both school and college curricula to the point where they sometimes ...

A Different View of China's ASAT Test
Gregory Kulacki and Jeffrey Lewis argued in a joint presentation that the common arguments about China's anti-satellite test—that the test was a shot across the bow of American space superiority or an attempt to force the US into negotiations to restrict the development of space weaponry—are based on limited information and unreliable sources. Further, such explanations view China as a unified, rational decision maker, rather than a complicated bureaucracy in which conflicting interests compete for attention and resources, and mistakes can be made. Commentators and officials should be cautious in assessing Chinese intentions with limited information, Kulacki and Lewis advised at the Carnegie Endowment on November 13, 2007.
