Association for India's Development, Philadelphia
This video is one that I made for a fundraiser show by AID (Association for India's development). AID is a non-profit organization that brings together volunteers and aims to empower the poor and the needy in India through projects in literacy, health care, rural development and women's empowerment in all the regions of India. AID currently has 41 volunteer-run chapters across the US, funding and supporting hundreds of projects and major programs in India. As a part of the Philadelphia chapter of AID I actually had the opportunity of making this video with inputs from the other wonderful members of our team. The event took place on 29th September, 2007 and consisted of dance and cultural performances by several professional groups, and a few video shows. I'm glad to tell you that the event was a grand success... more than 200 people turned up and we raised more than a thousand dollars! Visit: www.aidphiladelphia.org , www.aidindia.org So enjoy this video while you come to know about the activities of our chapter. The song in background is from the Bollywood movie 'Swadesh'.. Lyrics by Javed Akhtar, music by AR Rahman. English translation of the song: this country of yours is your motherland and is calling out to you this is a bond which can never break how can you forget the scent of your earth you can go anywhere but you'll always come back in new paths, in every sigh to your lost heart someone will say this land of yours is your motherland life is telling you you have ...
