Tourism Savings Showdown
Mayor Nancy Berry and Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski squared off at the first Tourism Savings Showdown on May 4 at the Tower Point HEB. To illustrate that tourism generates $800 in tax revenue per household each year in Texas, the mayors raced to fill their shopping carts with $800 worth of groceries. Bienski was the closest to the magic number but the real winner was the Brazos Valley Food Bank, which received the donated groceries.

Bryan/ College Station CVB Mayor's Grocery Challenge : Texas LiVE Behind the Scenes
The Bryan/ College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts a showdown between the mayor of Bryan and the Mayor of College Station in the Tower Point HEB Supermarket. The Texas State Research Department reports that tourism dollars spent in the state of Texas last year saved each Texas household an average of $800 in taxes. To demonstrate what this could mean to an average family in the state of Texas, the Mayors of Bryan and College Station face off to fill their grocery baskets with $800 worth of groceries to be donated to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. See who claims the title of Brazos Valley Grocery Champion!!
