The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (T. A. S. K., Inc.) is a charitable, non-profit organization whose mission is to respond to the needs of people in the Trenton area by 1) providing meals to all those who are hungry, 2) providing services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life, 3) informing the wider community of the needs of the hungry, and 4) advocating for resources to meet these needs. The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen was founded in the early 1980's by a small group of individuals from local churches and service organizations. Trenton Area Soup Kitchen
This short documentary explores the root causes of hunger in New Jersey Capital City, and how TASK is working to meet the needs of Trenton's poor and less fortunate. It is a story of people helping other people, of people who are grateful and positive. In the same breath, it is a story about people who cannot afford to feed their families on the money they earn. In 2008, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen expects to serve over 180000 meals to hungry families in the Trenton area, but the need continues to grow. During the same year, over 85 students were enrolled in TASK's successful GED and adult education program.
