Trenton man stabbed outside Rescue Mission
A city resident was in stable condition Wednesday night after being stabbed outside the Rescue Mission yesterday afternoon, police said. The 32-year-old victim was across from the Ewing Street shelter shortly after 3:45 pm when he apparently became involved in an argument over cigarettes with another man. According to Sgt. Steve Varn, the other man took a knife and stabbed the victim at least once in the lower abdomen. The suspect fled, and officers were called. An ambulance took the victim to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted for observation. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police searched the area for the suspect, but no arrests had been reported as of late yesterday. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with bad facial acne, acne scars on his face, olive skin and a scar on his forehead. He was wearing a black jacket at the time of the alleged assault, police said. Detective Carmelo Rodriguez is investigating. Anyone with information about case is asked to call police at (609) 989-4170 or the Confidential Tip Line at 989-3663.
