Produced by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, this award-winning documentary demonstrates how community partnerships can be forged to effectively provide the necessary range of services to people who are homeless. You will meet two service providers in this series of short videos, Project Home in Philadelphia and the Downtown Emergency Service Center in Seattle. Both examples show powerful models of system change. A series of videos, manuals, issue briefs, fact sheets, workshops, and e-learning curricula have been developed to support implementation of these effective strategies. To learn more, and to discover ways in which you can help, please head to www.mitchalbom.com. Meanwhile, closer to his current home, Albom becomes involved with a Detroit pastor a reformed drug dealer and convict who preaches to the poor and homeless in a decaying church with a hole in its roof. Moving between their worlds, Christian and Jewish, African-American and white, impoverished and well-to-do ...
