Mobile lab and building energy audits/retrofits
The Colorado College environmental program mobile lab provides a mobile facility for class research projects, student and faculty research, and educational outreach programs. The solar power system and backup diesel generator provide continuous power for laboratory instruments in the field. The lab also demonstrates the utility and simplicity of solar power systems, including a 600-watt photovoltaic (PV) array. Currently, the environmental mobile lab is used primarily for the building energy audit and retrofit program, a student-driven project. More info at www.coloradocollege.edu

The Renewable Energy Initiative (TREI) Launches In Denver, Colorado New Organization to Create $350 Billion in Clean Energy Investment via 401(k) and IRA plans www.TREI.us • Currently 40% of all new electrical capacity added to the grid annually is provided by renewables with an investment of roughly $20 billion. TREI believes that if 5% of all 401(k) and IRA plans are invested in clean energy, that 100% of all new electricity added to the grid each year can be generated by renewables by the end of 2014- just four years from now. • The vision of the new educational non-profit organization, The Renewable Energy Initiative (TREI), is that every American will have the freedom to invest in renewable energy via their 401(k) plan and IRAs. • An impressive 89% of Americans support increased wind production (March 2010, Newhouse, Bennett poll). Renewable energy, including wind and solar, provided more than 40% of the new electricity added to the US grid over the last two years. • Despite being the primary investment tool of more than 50 million Americans, less than 1% of 401(k) plans and IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts) offer Americans the opportunity to invest in renewable energy. • There are $7 trillion in 401(k) and IRA assets (Employee Benefits Research Institute). Given the opportunity, TREI believes that 401(k) and IRA holders will invest approximately 5% of their assets in existing publicly traded renewable energy funds and bonds. • Outreach by TREI and its partners ...

"High"
The American Future Fund (AFF)launched "High", a 60-second ad that will run on radio stations across Colorado calling on Congressman Mark Udall to support exploration of domestic sources of energy, including allowing for offshore drilling and exploration for oil shale. HR 6108 would allow for the safe exploration of offshore drilling and oil shale production. AFF supports the passage of this legislation and is encouraging Colorado citizens to contact Congressman Udall and encourage him to support the bill.
