3-7-2010 Service Dog Cozy @ work with the Fridge Fetching Water
Cozy is an Australian Labradoodle and recently graduated from NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services) from Princeton MA during the Fall of 2009. She was born to be a service dog, was donated to NEADS by breeder Judy Hickey. At 8 weeks, Cozy was put in the Prison Pup Program and spent her puppy years at a minimum security prison for a year, alternating with a puppy raiser during the weekends. When she turned 16 months old, she returned to the NEADS kennels for advanced training and after we were matched, I spent 2 weeks at the NEADS campus so I could be trained with her. To keep her sharp, we practice her tasks everyday.

With increased funding and capacity for growth our goal is to reduce client wait times, expand the Train the Trainer Program in order to assist children with autism living outside of Canada and expand and diversify NSD's volunteer programs. Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Memorial Service / June 29, 2011
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation® designated a special place on the Walk of Honor® for Sparkles' Pathway, in honor of Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog. The pathway is located on the National Emergency Training Center campus in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Sparkles was rescued from a home with 62 dogs and gained international attention with her fire safety efforts since being adopted in 2003. Best known for her red toenails and tail that never stopped wagging, Sparkles loved the fire service. It was though she was born to be a fire safety educator. Sparkles found her calling in the fire service; she loved nothing more than being with children and demonstrating fire safety messages for her friends. The video is from Sparkles' Memorial Service on June 29, 2011. The brick walkway links the official National Fallen Firefighters Monument honoring all fallen firefighter heroes to the historic firefighters Chapel as it winds its way through the National Memorial Park, site of the annual National Memorial service. Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation® in 1992 to honor all fallen firefighters and to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives. Please join this worthy effort by donating for a brick in this special section. Now is the time to show your support for Fire Safety Education and the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation by helping to complete this permanent tribute to the American Fire Service.
