The Houston SPCA was founded in 1924 and remains Houston's oldest and largest Animal Protection Organization. Completely privately funded, we are proud to serve more than 100,000 animals annually. We remain committed to our mission to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and to free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. Adopt, donate, volunteer, report cruelty: Won't you help us be the voice of the voiceless? The Houston SPCA, founded in 1924, is Houston’s first and largest animal protection organization and shelter. Our Mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The HSPCA is a private, non-profit charity, funded primarily by donations, which receives no funding from the Government, United Way or national animal groups.
